Dominant Pelicans Sink Bucks in Stellar Victory: Milwaukee’s Struggles Continue

A masterful Pelicans defeat the Bucks, not concentrated enough and lacking sharpness in attack. That’s two defeats in a row for Milwaukee, the dynamic is not great.

The Bucks have no absentees, Patrick Beverley makes his return despite his wrist injury. The Pels are still without their Dyson bagless vacuum cleaner Daniels, Jose Alvarado and especially Brandon Ingram. The Pelicans continue their hellish week and we’re not talking about the carnival. After the Thunder and before the Celtics, it’s the Bucks reception at the Smoothie King Center. We expect a big match between two very serious teams this season.

Giannis and Malik Beasley put the Bucks on the right track, Lillard penalizes in the paint, the first timeout will be for New Orleans. Beneficial for the Pels who cause a lot of ball losses for the Bucks. We even get a two-handed dunk from CJ McCollum. The Bucks are gradually coming out of their matchBrook Lopez takes a technique from the bench, the address is not really satisfactory even if Bobby Portis manages to punish.

The Pelicans end up leading in the game and Larry Nance Jr. gets a nice slice from the parking lot. However, we have to face the facts, the Pelicans zone is working well and it is not the Bucks’ second unit that is going to fix that. We find baskets here and there but nothing really to stop the bleeding. It must be said that not many people can slow down Zion Williamson in the air. But then, what about Herb Jones in all this? Well the back continues to make a good case for joining an All-Defensive 1st Team.

Herb Jones says NO NO on back-to-back possessions!

The Pels are starting to build up a good little lead over their pursuers. +16 on the break. Jonas Valanciunas offers 13 points at halftime, we have CJ McCollum with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Zion adds 10 points while Herb Jones makes a nice collection in stock (3 interceptions and 3 blocks). For the Bucks, 12 points and 8 rebounds for Giannis, 8 points and 5 assists for Lillard. Khris Middleton sends an ugly 2 points and 2 assists. The Bucks are in trouble, and on top of that, Damian Lillard seems to be injured.

More fear than harm, Dame makes her return in the third quarter. Despite this, Milwaukee’s offense is in big trouble. Missing lay-ups and not concentrating. You could say they have chances to score but it would be more correct to say they have chances to have chances to score. You almost have to wait until the second third of the third quarter to reach 50 points. The Pelicans’ interior defense is much more effective than that of the Bucks: it counters in abundance. When that’s not enough, the Pels don’t hesitate to send the Greek to the line, who doesn’t hesitate to go 0/2. The Bucks still find solutions with Malik Beasley and especially Giannis. The Greek Freak scores 20 points in a row, causes fouls but is too lonely.

The Bucks manage to rebuild themselves as best they can, led by Giannis. With 3 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Bucks are back within 3 points. That’s a lot of three! This does not please the Pels who send two winning shots to regain the lead. +13 points 10 minutes from the end of the match.

Zion freaking Williamson.

But the Bucks are also capable of runs, and are in contact with the Pels at the end of the match. Jae Crowder also scores but the Pels are still more than ten points apart. Brook Lopez finally starts to score, Doc Rivers wins a challenge to avoid a 5th foul on Giannis which would have been a tough blow: his understudy Bobby Portis already has 5. Khris Middleton and Damian Lillard score, Malik Beasley continues his harvest behind the line: sixth winning shot, before missing three big shots in quick succession (6/12 by far on the evening). The Bucks could take advantage of the 5 fouls from that devil Herb Jones to diversify the attack but that is not the case. Apart from Giannis who finished the match with 35 points, 14 assists and 4 assists, there was not much for the Bucks, who were too short and lost 100 to 107.

Lillard had a decent match with 20 pawns and 7 passes at 50% shooting success. 3 blocks for Brolo, too clumsy (1/4) behind the line while Middleton was disappointing (7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists). It’s especially difficult for the Bucks when the bench responds so poorly: only 11 points for the replacements.

The Pelicans can be satisfied with their evening. The mutant Zion makes 28 points at 9/15 and Trey Murphy III finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists at 4/13 shooting. CJ McCollum supported his strong winger well: 25 points and 7 assists at 9/24 and 3/9 from afar, Larry Nance Jr. did well off the bench. Herb Jones disgusted Milwaukee: 11 points, 4 assists, 4 interceptions and 3 blocks.

The Bucks have a little margin over the Knicks, but second place is not yet guaranteed for the Playoffs. The Pels return to the same number of victories as the Clippers in the West and can hope to steal fourth place which would mean home advantage in the first round of the Playoffs.

A big Louisiana defense is a solution to stopping the deer. The Pelicans will have the opportunity to confirm their current excellent form by challenging the Celtics in their next match.
