Diego Monaldi Leads Apu Udine to Victory Against Treviglio

Basket A2.

Apu Udine beats Treviglio at Palacarnera 73-65

All that was missing was the controller: Diego Monaldi looks like a character from a successful video game and dragged Apu to victory against Treviglio.

Team in difficulty, with some players returning from long-term injuries but still, at the start of the season, a candidate for a top season.

The Juventus captain played an incredibly effective second quarter: first he terrified his opponents with triples off the dribble, then he penetrated with speed for personal solutions or assists for his teammates.

With Delia relegated to a walk-on, Udine finds good responses from the new signing Cannon, making his debut at Carnera.

But it is above all with Gaspardo who manages to end the first half with the lead: the winger scores 17 points and contributes to the 40-33 half.

The second half is more edgy, the referees concede a lot but there are still spectacular actions: the former Italian playmaker Vitali, 38 years old, shows his immense class with an all-round assist.

Then there’s Monaldi, who also plays a lot given the physical problems of the Caroti substitution: 4 triples practically in a series, which split the game.

And indeed, iron penetrations, a less registered but effective brand. Treviglio’s mix of too much experience and encrusted youth goes haywire, also because Valli’s team never really scores from outside.

It only manages to close the gap when it no longer matters. 73-65 the final, for Apu it is the fifth victory in six matches in the clock phase.
