Detroit Lions Release Cameron Sutton, Wanted by Police for Domestic Violence

(Detroit) The Detroit Lions released cornerback Cameron Sutton on Thursday, who is wanted by police.

Published yesterday at 5:31 p.m.

Authorities are looking for him to serve an arrest warrant for domestic violence in Florida.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, which includes Tampa, asked for help finding Sutton.

The 29-year-old played his first season with Detroit last year, after six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The warrant is for battery by strangulation, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Sutton may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a Florida license plate, the sheriff’s office said.

The department responded to a call about domestic violence in progress involving Sutton, 29, and a woman around 5 a.m. on March 7, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Authorities issued the warrant based on the evidence found and suspect Sutton fled Tampa, the newspaper reported.

It is unclear whether Sutton has an attorney. A text message sent to Sutton’s agent, David Canter, was not immediately responded to.

The Lions signed Sutton to a three-year, $33 million contract a little over a year ago.

Last season, Sutton set a career high with 61 tackles.

He also had an interception, his ninth overall.
