Danielle Collins Shines Under Pressure in Miami Semifinals

American Danielle Collins may be playing without pressure with this being her last year on the WTA circuit in mind. If so, the formula works.

Collins reached the semifinals of the Miami tournament on Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over 23rd seed Caroline Garcia.

A former finalist at the Australian Open, the American plans to end her career at the end of the campaign. She will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in her next match. The other semi-final will pit Victoria Azarenka against Elena Rybakina.

The last final in which Collins participated was in Melbourne in 2022 when she suffered defeat against Ashleigh Barty.

Collins did not allow any break points to her rival in the match in Miami. She actually won an impressive total of 90% of the points when her first service ball was in play.

In the evening, Alexandrova got the better of the American and fifth seed Jessica Pegula. She had the last word in a match which required more than 2 hours of play and a score of 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4.

Dabrowski reaches doubles semi-finals

In doubles, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealander Erin Routliffe beat Americans Sloane Stephens and Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 in the quarterfinals.

They will face another American duo in the semi-final, Asia Muhammad and Alycia Parks.
