Daniel Berná has achieved an excellent third place in the Madrid Professional Circuit event held this Monday at the Olivar de la Hinojosa Golf Club.
Berná has scored 68 strokes, 4 under par, with which he has tied for third place with Álvaro Veiga and Sebastián García, a trio that was only surpassed by the tournament champion, Pedro Oriol Sánchez (-8) and Gonzalo Fernández -Castaño, second classified (-6).
The Soria Golf Club player has been very satisfied with his performance in this tournament, in which he has highlighted that he has felt “very good from tee to green” and “correctly putting”, which has allowed him to sign “a bogey-free course, something that is not common at this point in the season.”
Berná’s participation in this Madrid tournament has occurred after the weather conditions at the Real Club de Campo de Córdoba forced the cancellation, this weekend, of the XXXV Spanish PGA Championship by Córdoba, which began the National Circuit. PGA Spain Golf Tour 2024, where he had managed to make the cut.
The rain, which began to fall almost without pause since Thursday, together with the fog and bad weather conditions, forced the organization to cancel the tournament, after different consultations with the Organizing Committee, the club and the players.
In fact, only the first of the three planned rounds could be competed, and segmented into two days due to the adverse weather. Daniel Berná had closed this first and ultimately only round with 76 strokes, 4 over par, in 31st place. The organization has arranged for the Córdoba tournament to be played again starting from scratch from May 2 to 4, at a time of the season in which Berná hopes to be “at his peak physically and in full play.”
Now, the Soria Golf Club player will park the competition until April 2 and 3, when he will participate in the PGA Spain Doubles Championship to be held in Izki (Álava), where he will defend the title he won last year in this same field forming a couple with José Manuel Pardo, with whom he will form a couple again.
