Barcelona. The footballer Dani Alves mentioned to the judges of section 21 of the Barcelona Court that he will not escape if they leave him provisionally free pending the resolution of the appeals regarding the sentence that sentenced him to four and a half years in prison. .

Alves expressed the above in the last speaking session of yesterday’s hearing to assess his request to be released, reported sources present. The player intervened by videoconference from the Brians 2 prison, in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, where he assured the court that he trusts in justice and that he will stay in Spain until the process is resolved.

His lawyer, Inés Guardiola, commented to the judges that her client served a quarter of the sentence imposed on him (he has been in prison for 14 months) and that with that he would be able to access prison permits if he had the other requirement, that penalty is definitive, something that estimates may take months.

Guardiola also argued that the presumption of innocence remains in force until there is a final sentence, which he intends to annul with a 136-page appeal and 16 different reasons, and to give guarantees that he will not flee if he is released, he has offered deposit a bond of 50 thousand euros and go to court every week or even daily to confirm that you are still in Spain.

On the other hand, both the prosecution and the private prosecution carried out by the complainant through the lawyer Ester García have opposed the player being released from prison before the sentence is final. The prosecutor has reiterated that there is a risk of Alves fleeing, both due to his Brazilian nationality and his economic capacity to do so, something that the defense contradicts by stating that the footballer lost all the contracts he had when the case against him began. .

They demand a greater sentence

For the prosecutor, however, now that he is convicted there is even more risk that Alves will choose to flee, since during the investigation (when he was in provisional prison) he had the threat of a conviction and now it is a fact.

Both the private prosecution and the prosecution have argued that, although Alves has served a quarter of the four and a half year sentence, both accusations demand higher sentences in their appeals, which are still to be resolved.
