D3 club, Saarbrücken surprises Mönchengladbach

Saarbrücken eliminated Borussia Mönchengladbach this Tuesday in the last quarter-final.

Saarbrücken, a 3rd division club, achieved the feat on Tuesday of eliminating Borussia Mönchengladbach in the quarter-final of the German Cup (2-1), leaving Leverkusen as the sole representative of the elite in the last four. FC Saarbrücken scored in the last minute of added time (90+3), and will host Kaiserslautern, residents of D2, in the semi-final on April 2.

The next day, the still undefeated championship leader Leverkusen will host another D2 club, Fortuna Düsseldorf, in the other semi-final. The final is scheduled for May 25 in Berlin.
