It has been a long time since the Cosno club has been so brilliant at a high level. In fact, three licensees qualified for the various French championships in their category. And a fourth, Léna Géraci, failed a few seconds from the end of her jump-off.
Honor to the youngest, namely two juniors. Flora Vidas, in less than 40 kg, has just won silver at the Burgundy-Franche-Comté championships in Besançon and, thus, her ticket to Villebon-sur-Yvette tomorrow.
Fun and pleasure
At the club since 2017, the young Sancerre schoolgirl fears nothing. She trains under the guidance of Professor Félix Geraci with the older group and is not afraid of anything, she has even started trail running. His club friend, Léna Géraci, who shoots in the same weight category, had no luck. She lost twenty seconds from the end of the jump-off for the bronze medal, qualifying for the French championship.
However, the two of them do not bother each other. “We practice for fun, for pleasure. » Their eldest Gor Amirkhanyan, who was admitted to the Dijon Hope Center, fights as a cadet under 81 kg. He placed third in the championship in Besançon, qualifying for the “France”, which will take place for him on Sunday March 31 in Paris at the Judo Institute.
The last qualifier, Tiffany Wasteels, junior over 78 kg, won the silver medal at the Regionals and her selection. But she was unable to defend her chances at national level last weekend having been injured in Besancon. The young girl, transferred professionally to Cosne, attended the Pôle Espoir de Senlis and qualified in minor for these national finals. “Since 2018, no qualified, this year three, the work with Félix pays off. Paradoxically this year, there has been a drop in number of graduates among the youngest. For what ? », asks President Gilles Bechereau.
