Coach Shin Tae-yong Defends Hokky Caraka’s Performance in World Cup Qualifier against Vietnam

Jakarta, tvOnenews.com – Indonesian National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong (STY), defended Hokky Caraka, who performed less than optimally when they met Vietnam, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Thursday (21/3/2024).

In the third qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup, Hokky was used as a starter and played as a center forward.

Hokky was flanked by two Indonesian national team wing strikers, namely Rafael Struick and Witan Sulaeman.

However, what Hokky displayed from the first minute was far from expectations. As a result, he was withdrawn in the second half.

STY then brought on Egy Maulana Vikri who ended up scoring the winning goal.

The South Korean coach said the reason he included Hokky from the start was because it was part of his tactics.

“If asked, ‘why is Hokky the starter?’ “Yes, I’m also confused about what to answer because that’s my tactic too,” said Shin Tae-yong, Thursday (22/3/2024) evening WIB.
