Club Brugge is preparing for a very busy summer. After the season, manager Vincent Mannaert will be permanently said goodbye, after which a completely new club management will take over. And the necessary changes are also expected within the player selection.
After the mixed performances in the current season, it appears that the people of Bruges will implement a new injection of quality within the playing group. In addition, some strong holders may need to be replaced. A new striker is already needed. As is known, Igor Thiago moves to the English Brentford FC for a lot of money.
However, there are more players who are eligible for a summer departure from the Jan Breydel stadium. Not least Antonio Nusa. For the same money, the Norwegian golden boy even had his transfer in mind. In August, Club reportedly refused a million-dollar offer from Chelsea FC. And during the past winter mercato there was of course the soap opera with Brentford.
Failed medical tests
Nusa was about to sign with the future employer of his teammate Thiago in January. At club level there was also an agreement on a transfer fee that could reportedly amount to as much as 37 million euros. The 18-year-old attacker even traveled to England for his medical and physical tests. But that just resulted in a hitch.
For example, the English doctors discovered a growth lesion around the cartilage of the knee, after which the deal was put on hold. However, with the help of the Norwegian association, Club was able to prove that this was by no means an insurmountable problem. But Nusa had already had enough by then. The Norwegian and his entourage decided to permanently pull the plug on the Brentford deal.
Still going to the Premier League?
Since then, the attacker has found it difficult to regain his desired level, which does not exactly improve the chances of another top transfer. Nevertheless, the attacker need not despair. So there is still sufficient interest. The medium Give Me Sport claims that Tottenham Hotspur is still following his file closely.
The London top club is of course on its guard after the developments surrounding Brentford and will turn Nusa completely inside out physically in the event of a possible transfer. But Tottenham remains convinced of his potential. Whether an official offer will be made will depend on how Nusa will perform in the coming months. In any case, Club would still stick to the same price tag as in January, although this could still change based on Nusa’s performance.
