Clara Boutet’s Judo Journey: From Veynois to Clermont-Ferrand and Mauriacois

Clara Boutet continues her sporting adventure at the Clermont-Ferrand Hope Center and at the Mauriacois judo club.

Born in 2009, Clara Boutet tried judo in 2018 within the Veynois judo club (PACA region) with Serge Gros, her first heart coach who made her viscerally love this sport. Following a move, from 2020 to 2023, she joined the judo section at Jules-Ferry college in Aurillac with Jérôme Angelvy and trained at AJAC with Bruno Robichon. Since 2023, she has been at the Clermont Hope Center with Maël le Herissé and Gaëtan Leleux as well as at the Mauriacois Judo club with Jordan Luis.

Thirteen hours of practice per week

Clara, in addition to being gifted, is determined: “I like judo for its values but also for the competitions. Since I was little, I have been organizing my work and getting ahead of my homework because some weekends I cannot do them due to competitions that are often far away. I take advantage of every moment to revise, on the bus that takes me to Clermont on Sunday evening and brings me back on Friday evening and even while waiting for the one at Clermont station. I practice judo around 13 hours a week between the Pôle Espoir, the club, training courses during each vacation and, of course, during competitions on many weekends. I want to join a general high school next year and then go to medical school and become a surgeon.”

At the Mauriac club, she appreciates the atmosphere which allows her to relieve some of the pressure compared to the Pôle and to meet up with friends as well as her brother Julien, also a judoka. The Mauriacois Judo Club supports her enormously in her judokate journey, which allows her to always give the best of herself. “She loves her coach Jordan who listens to the club’s judokas. He accompanies her whenever he can in competitions but above all guides her in her wishes and the directions to take to try to achieve her goals,” appreciates Sophie, the mother. The latter confirms the hardworking qualities of his protégé, on and off the mat. “She is curious about everything, in judo, it’s the competition of course, but also the refereeing and the katas that she was already working on a year in advance. She also volunteers to come and help, on club event days or the Cantal Tour sport in the sector. We can count on her. Last year, she failed to get a place in the individual selection, this season among the cadets (category made up of three years), her investment and seriousness are rewarded. Honored this year with the Sportsman’s Medal from the City of Mauriac, for her two participations in the French UNSS and department team championships last year, she is the pride of our club. Her performances take us back to two former Mauriac judokas who marked the life of the JCM, Marie Mampon and Marjorie Lescure-Dapon. »

It was therefore last weekend that Clara got her ticket to the national finals. She participates in the AuRA championship in the cadet category 1st division in less than 48 kg (the highest level) in Andrézieux-Bouthéon (Loire) and finishes in a meritorious 5th place which opens the doors to the French championship which will take place Saturday March 30 at the Paris Judo Institute.
