The José Ángel de Jesús Encinas pavilion hosted the ‘Ciudad de Talavera’ Badminton Spring Open with massive participation. They could also enjoy a badminton master class and a talent selection test, for ages 3 to 10.
The initiative was organized by the Talavera Badminton School, with the support of the City Council, Decathlon Talavera and the Nuestra Señora del Prado School. Many participants and onlookers accompanied the players on a morning with a very pleasant temperature for practicing sports. Before the official presentation of the Spring Open, the distinctions of the social tournament, which had been played a few weeks before, were given.
The winners of the Social Tournament were the following: the finalists in the absolute category were María García, Natalia Ocaña, Sara Arellano, Elena Pérez, Lucía Muñoz and Paula Cañas, while the champion was Beatriz Serrano. For its part in children, the champion was Sergio Arranz and the runner-up Gara Bayán.
The champions of the Badminton Spring Open ‘Ciudad de Talavera’ were as follows: in the Women’s Children Gara Bayán and in the Men’s Sergio Arranaz. In female Junior Lucía Muñoz and in male Iker Pérez. In Absolute feminine Beatriz Serrano and in masculine Alejandro Pérez.
The teachers from the Talavera Badminton School were in charge of presenting the trophies: César Flores, Lidia Peña, Bene Tapetado Jr., Josete Flores and Sandra María Florea.
The Talavera Badminton School appreciates the involvement of the school’s students and parents in the tournament, as well as the collaboration of the Sports Department with Antonio Núñez at the head, the Nuestra Señora del Prado School with César Flores at the head, the signs Decathlon and also thanks all the public who came to share a good morning of sport.
The next planned objectives of Badminton Talavera are the creation of a regulated local league and the preparation of a tournament with the closing of the School’s end of year. Badminton is a sport that is growing and is increasingly practiced in Talavera thanks to its dissemination and practice in schools and also because of its ease of learning. Badminton Talavera is already preparing for the next season with important new features that will delight fans of this sport.
