Château Planckaert: The Unexpected Reality Series About Belgium’s Famous Family

After twelve seasons of ‘De Planckaerts’, the Planckaert family was not seen on television for a long time. Actually, a new reality series was no longer necessary for them.

“That wasn’t really the plan,” Francesco Planckaert reveals on Radio2. “It happened by chance when we met Katrien Luyten.” She is the boss of production house Vincent TV. “There was such a good connection that we said, ‘Okay, we’re going to do that.'”

What is really impressive is that Katrien did not even know at that time that the family had a castle. “We had a castle in France for two years, but we had not really started yet,” says Stephanie Planckaert. The family even hesitated to tell Katrien, because they weren’t sure whether they wanted to go public.

There are many people who think that ‘Château Planckaert’ is only made to pay for the castle, but this misconception has now been dispelled. “That castle had been bought for I-don’t-know-how-long,” said Francesco.

Specifically, the family bought it in 2017. “And in 2019 or 2020 the first broadcasts started.”
