Central role for national player Elisa Senß at Eintracht Frankfurt

National soccer player Elisa Senß will wear the Eintracht jersey from next season. The Frankfurt team announced their commitment on Monday. The defensive midfielder is coming from league rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer.

She received a contract until the end of June 2027. “I chose Eintracht Frankfurt because a very large and professional club expects me and we pursue the same goals,” Senß was quoted as saying in the club statement. “I’m looking forward to a great team with whom I want to rock together in the coming years.”

Convincing performance

Before her time in Leverkusen, the now 26-year-old played for SV Meppen and SGS Essen, among others. So far she has played 96 second division and 98 Bundesliga games. Last December she was called up to the national team for the first time by interim national coach Horst Hrubesch. She showed a convincing performance in the 3-0 win in the Nations League in Rostock against Denmark, which laid the foundation for the now successfully completed Olympic qualification.

Niko Arnautis, Eintracht’s coach, said that he had been “keeping an eye on” the strong all-rounder for several years. Recently she has developed “enormously” and has “mature into a leading player” at the Werkself. He is happy about a “seasoned player who will strengthen us immediately”.

Eintracht also wants to be in the next round of the Champions League. For Katharina Kiel, Eintracht’s technical director, the conclusion of the contract signals “what ambitions we have as a club and where we want to go.” She sees Senß as “a player who can play a central role in our team.”
