Celebrating Women’s Voices: A Tribute to Literary Geniuses in Benevento

The ninth edition of ‘Women’s Voices’ will be held on Friday 8 March at the Teatro Comunale di Benevento, an event created by Carmen Castiello and directed by Linda Ocone. An artistic project that will feature the Benevento Ballet Company and the orchestra of the Liceo Musicale ‘G. Guacci’, directed by maestro Deborah Capitanio, in two performances (at 9.00 and 11.00).

‘Women’s Voices’ aims to break stereotypes and enhance diversity, offering a space for deep reflection and sharing to honor women. In particular, it is an opportunity to convey positive and proactive models of women who have distinguished themselves for their choices, actions and thoughts.

This year the event will be dedicated to five leading figures of literature – Antonia Pozzi, Letizia Battaglia, Alda Merini, Sibilla Aleramo and Esther Johnson – “who share the pain of being considered crazy because of their genius” explains Castiello who also underlines as “with this edition we intend to highlight the internal suffering of these women caused by social isolation and ferocious prejudices, but also to celebrate their originality and talent through music, dance and poetry to reveal their most authentic soul”.

The entrance ticket costs 7 euros and can be purchased at the Carmen Castiello Study Center, All Net Service or the ticket office of the ‘Vittorio Emmanuele’ Municipal Theatre.
