Caroline Wozniacki Advances to Indian Wells Quarterfinals with Win Over Angelique Kerber

In the round of 16 of the WTA 1000 Masters in Indian Wells, Caroline Wozniacki won her encounter with Angelique Kerber. The Dane prevailed in the mother duel with 6:4 and 6:2 against her German opponent and made it 8:8 in a direct comparison.

This puts an end to Kerber’s successful run in Indian Wells. The 36-year-old, who is currently in 607th place in the world rankings, previously defeated, among others, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, who was number ten.

Wozniacki fordert Swiatek

Wozniacki is now in her sixth ever Indian Wells quarterfinal. World number one Iga Swiatek awaits them there.

The 22-year-old Pole continued her run in the round of 16 over Kazakh Yulia Putintseva and clearly won the encounter 6:1 and 6:2. This means Swiatek remains in the competition without losing a set.

In a direct comparison with Wozniacki, the number one in women’s tennis leads 1-0. The game dates from 2019 and took place at the WTA competition in Toronto.

Second pairing already fixed

Anastasia Potapova and Marta Kostyuk, who will now meet each other, also booked the quarter-final ticket. The former prevails against Jasmine Paolini in her round of 16, the latter defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
