Caroline Garcia in the third round in Miami

The Florida air is good for Caroline Garcia. The Frenchwoman, seeded No. 23, qualified for the third round of the WTA 1,000 in Miami by benefiting from the abandonment of her opponent, the Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 5-2, ab). But Garcia already had the match well in hand before his opponent gave up.

The hardest part will probably have been managing the pre-match. Management began on Friday when, due to rain, only three games could be played (3-0 for Garcia). And this Saturday, we had to wait for the end of the endless duel between Nicolas Jarry and Jack Draper, won in more than 3h30 by the Chilean.

If Tomova won her service game on the restart, it was Garcia who decided what happened on the court. First, the Frenchwoman made the points and the mistakes. But once the sights were set, Garcia was alone on the court. In the next round, she will face the Japanese Naomi Osaka, who defeated Elina Svitolina (6-2, 7-6 [5]). This clash between Garcia and Osaka will already be the third this season. Garcia had the best at the Australian Open before the Japanese took her revenge in Doha.
