André Villas-Boas Victorious in FC Porto Presidential Elections

The result is clear. André Villas-Boas largely won the elections for the presidency of FC Porto on Saturday evening, winning more than 80% of the votes of the 26,000 members of the Portuguese club who came to vote. The former OM coach (between 2019 and 2021) became the 32nd president in the history of Porto and ended the fifteen consecutive mandates, or 42 years of reign, of his predecessor and main opponent, Pinto da Costa .

“I promise to give my life for FC Porto,” said Villas-Boas after his victory, he who coached the Dragons between 2010 and 2011, with a quadruple to boot. “I promise you courage and I ask you to have some too. We have a long mission ahead of us, hard work in a house that needs to be tidy, structured and organized. Let there be no doubt, thanks to you, today FC Porto is free again. »

Villas-Boas also had a few words for Pinto da Costa: “I want to express my gratitude for everything he gave to FC Porto, for the life he gave to FC Porto and the guarantee that it is and will always be his home. »
