There is less and less left to the eighth chapter of the rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz e Jannik Sinner. In addition to the final of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, the Italian and the Spaniard will also compete for the second position in the world ranking this evening.

Alcaraz could confirm his ranking by beating Sinner, but the South Tyrolean is intent on overtaking to get ever closer to objective number one. A goal that he pursues without any haste, as his athletic trainer explained to Sky Sport Umberto Ferrara.

The match between Alcaraz and Sinner will be played on Stadium 1 of the BNP Paribas Open at 9.30pm Italian time and will be broadcast on Sky Sport Tennis.

Umberto Ferrara: “Jannik Sinner can become number one, but we are in no hurry”

“He is an extraordinary, extraordinary boy.

We who are lucky enough to work with him every day perceive this. It’s a pleasure to be with him. He is a person who likes to joke and have fun in a simple way. That’s something that isn’t highlighted on the pitch, but he’s a very fun person,” Ferrara said.

“Number one? It’s something we don’t think about. We don’t even talk about it, like the Slam victory. We were convinced that he would win a Major sooner or later, because it’s part of Jannik’s growth process.

I think he can become number one, but it could also happen in a year. None of us are in a hurry.” Ferrara finally focused on the love that the fans feel towards Sinner. “Jannik is able to communicate positivity.

She is perceived as a positive person, and people appreciate her for her honesty and spontaneity.”
