Capital City Showdown: Alba Berlin Secures Victory over Chemnitz in Bundesliga Battle

Berlin – Alba Berlin won an extremely important victory in the Basketball Bundesliga. On Sunday, the capital city team won against the previous league leaders Niners Chemnitz with 84:79 (39:35). This means that Alba and Chemnitz now both have five defeats each. However, the capital city team has played three fewer games. The best Berlin throwers in front of 5,000 spectators were Sterling Brown with 18 and Martin Hermannsson with 13 points.

It was a tough and heated game from the start. The people of Chemnitz in particular acted at the border and sometimes even over it. However, some fouls went unpunished. After a scuffle, Alba center Khalifa Koumadje was disqualified from the game after just under four minutes – a controversial decision. Basketball almost became a minor matter in the early stages.

It wasn’t until the end of the first quarter that things calmed down again. Now Alba got into the game better and took the lead again after a 12-0 run (30:24). Both teams struggled, particularly from a distance, so there were only a few points to marvel at in the first half.

After the break, Alba was more effective offensively and was able to pull ahead by eight points at times in the third quarter (57:49). But Chemnitz fought and Alba may have lost some of her strength in the third game in six days. The hosts equalized again just six minutes before the end (67:67). But the Berliners were able to pull away again by eight points (77:69) and this time brought the lead to the finish.
