On June 5, 2019, Canal+ initiated proceedings against the LFP before the Paris Commercial Court to obtain compensation following the series of matches postponed, during the 2018-2019 season, because of the “yellow vests” and rescheduled on significantly less favorable dates and times. The encrypted channel demanded 46 million euros from LFP which, according to it, ignored its interests and showed lightness in this matter.
The Paris commercial court ruled in favor of the LFP in this case, on June 1, 2021, deeming the decisions taken legitimate and found Canal+ guilty of an “act of denigration” against the League, ordering it to pay him €10,000 in damages, as well as €50,000 in reimbursement of legal costs. This Friday, according to our information, the Paris Court of Appeal, contacted by the encrypted channel, confirmed this judgment. She also ordered Canal+ to pay the LFP the sum of 20,000 euros.
