The game was initially characterized by bad passes and other inaccuracies. A long-range shot from Bochum defender Keven Schlotterbeck, which Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu deflected to a corner, was the most dangerous scoring opportunity in the first 35 minutes.
