Borussia Mönchengladbach: The Upheaval Begins with Big Transfer Plans in Sight

Now the upheaval is really starting!

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Gerardo Seoane (45) recently made it clear in BILD that he expects the rebuilding process to take much longer than just one transfer period. The era of the original Borussia players Patrick Herrmann (33) and Tony Jantschke (33) is coming to an end in the Bundesliga next summer, and the departure of top star Manu Koné (22) is also considered certain.

The Gladbach bosses expect a transfer fee in the range of 25 to 30 million euros for Koné. And now there’s plenty of cash from the bathroom deal!

As reported, the new main sponsor Reuter (Germany’s largest online bathroom shop) will be pouring up to 11 million euros into VfL’s coffers from next season on a performance-related basis. With this and the Koné coal, Seoane can go on a shopping spree in order to finally be able to permanently implement his ideas for modern tempo and switching football. Manager Roland Virkus (57) told BILD: “We constantly monitor the market and can react at any time if there is a real reinforcement that can be financed.”

BILD knows the candidates!

There is still great interest in Fortuna Düsseldorf star and World Cup participant Ao Tanaka (25), who can go for 2.75 million euros. Joris Chotard (22) from Montpellier HSC costs around three times as much – both play central midfield.

Vangelis Pavlidis (25) is the number one candidate for the storm, but AZ Alkmaar is still insisting on a utopian transfer fee of more than 20 million euros – even though the Greek’s contract expires in 2025.

Even if Alkmaar goes down to 15 million, there wouldn’t be much money left for the ten-point position that they are also looking for. In this case, St. Pauli’s noble technician Marcel Hartel (28) is in VfL’s focus: the star of the second division table leader with 21 goals is free of charge in the summer! Borussia are also working intensively with ex-Frankfurt and current Roman Daichi Kamada (27): his contract is also expiring and he brings the perfect mix of technique, speed and goal threat.
