Bomb Threat Adds Drama to American Baseball League Season Opener in South Korea

The season opener of the American Baseball League will take place in South Korea this time. A bomb threat causes excitement before the opening game.

A bomb threat at the start of the season of the American baseball league MLB in South Korea triggered a major police search operation. Around 30 members of a task force and another 120 officers searched the Gocheok Sky Dome baseball stadium in the capital Seoul, where the San Diego Padres’ game against the Los Angeles Dodgers from Major League Baseball was scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening (local time), they reported national news agency “Yonhap” and South Korean broadcasters. However, according to an initial assessment, there was no danger. Nothing was known about a game cancellation.

An English threatening email is said to have been received against certain players

The threat was previously reportedly contained in an email message written in English to the South Korean Consulate General in the Canadian city of Vancouver. Accordingly, it was announced that a bomb would explode during the game in the stadium in Seoul. The threat was particularly directed against the Japanese baseball player Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and others, it was said.

The writer posed as a Japanese lawyer. According to Yonhap, police suspect that this could be the same person who sent a series of email and fax threats from Japan last year. Investigators tried to trace the email.
