Bolivia Announces Team for I Bolivarian Youth Sports Games with Focus on Swimming and Athletics

There are 35 athletes and 24 swimmers on the list. These are the disciplines that provide the largest number of selected students. In two weeks, the international sporting event will begin.

La Paz, March 23, 2024 (AEP).- The Bolivian Olympic Committee (COB) announced the list of the 246 athletes that make up the Bolivia team for the I Bolivarian Youth Sports Games Sucre 2024, which will be held from April 4 to 14.

There are 35 athletes and 24 swimmers on the list. These are the disciplines that provide the largest number of selected students. In two weeks, the international sporting event will begin.

SUBJECTS

Swimming and athletics will present the largest number of Bolivian athletes for the multidisciplinary contest, becoming the main trump cards to obtain medals, without leaving aside racquetball, which registered eight competitors.

On the athletics roster, the presence of long-distance runner Lilian Mateo Tórrez stands out, who due to her achievements outside the country and with a preparation that she carries out in Texas, United States, becomes the Bolivian hope to achieve the gold medal. While in swimming there will be expectation for the performance of Bruno Ribera, among other athletes.

Behind these sports, wrestling (15), weightlifting (12), taekwondo (12) and road cycling (11) will present a greater number of athletes in individual events in the two weeks that these Games will last.

In addition to the aforementioned disciplines, Bolivia will participate in badminton (four), handball (12), 3X3 basketball (eight), 5-a-side baseball (eight), boxing (six), BMX (four), mountain biking (three), fencing ( six), indoor soccer (ten), gymnastics (six), judo (eight), karate (eight), Basque pelota (eight), Squash (eight), tennis (four), archery (four), triathlon (four ), floor volleyball (ten) and sand volleyball (four).

Sucre will receive 1,160 athletes. Colombia registered 164, Ecuador 101, Venezuela 200, Peru 192, Panama 70 and Chile 185, without taking into account the coaches and delegates who will gather in the state capital.
