Marc Hirschi reaches the podium in the Milano-Torino cycling classic.
The only 19-year-old Christian finished the oldest classic in the cycling calendar – the race has been held since 1876 – seven seconds behind the winner Bettiol.
Hirschi, five years his senior, loses two seconds to his compatriot and teammate on the 177 kilometer route from the Milan suburb of Rho to Salassa near Turin. It is the first podium for Christians this season; Hirschi won the Drôme Classic in France at the end of February. (SDA)
