Beirut, March 4 (Prensa Latina) The Beirut team defeated Al Riyadi 62-56 and today preserves its aspirations of winning the title in the final of the Women’s Basketball League in Lebanon.
The Beirutian team achieved its first success (21-14, 18-23, 15-12 and 11-7) in the best-of-five series, thanks to the prominence of point guard Maygan Simmons, the match’s top scorer with 35 points.
Those led by coach Gilbert Nasr stopped Al Riyadi’s offensive and also celebrated the performance of captain Aida Bakhos, owner of a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds.
With this result, Beirut placed the play off 1-2 after the initial victories of Al Riyadi’s quintet by 67-49 and 73-65.
On this day the fourth game will be played and a victory for Al Riyadi would make them Lebanese champions in front of their fans, otherwise the definition of the crown would be tomorrow on the Beirut court.
