Baja Californian Judokas Shine in National Tournament, Bringing Home Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals

The judokas of State 29 won gold, silver and bronze medals in the National Tournament «Prof. Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi.

Guadalajara Jalisco. – Great performances by the Baja Californian judokas resulted in 3 gold medals, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the “Prof.” National Tournament. Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi» 2024, held from February 29 to March 3 in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The event, which was organized by the Mexican Judo Federation, took place at the CODE Alcalde Sports Center and brought together the best of Mexican judo who performed fights in sub-18, sub-20 and senior categories.

The gold medals were won by Isis Benítez and Julio Ávila in the +70 kilograms under-18 and 81 kilograms under-18 divisions respectively. In addition, Jassem Fajer also won gold in the under-18 55 kg.

For her part, Miriam Silva won the silver medal in the 70 kg under-21 category and the bronze medal in the senior category. The remaining bronze medals were won by athletes Vania Madera and Kassandra Espinoza.

The competition was considered a selective event to form the national preselection that will participate in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.
