Manchester United’s agonizing victory against Liverpool 4-3 at Old Trafford gave them a ticket to the semi-finals of the FA Cup under a barrage of flashes that captured every second of Amad Diallo Traoré’s celebration of that goal scored at the close of time supplementary, but among so many images, some very particular ones stood out that showed the behind the scenes of that celebration that went viral on social networks in a way rarely seen.

So accustomed to color images, the FA Cup had an original idea in the postcards of the English derby valid for the quarterfinals. Photographer Miles Myerscough-Harris had stood out in recent days for taking a series of images of the Swedish AIK squad wearing clothing that paid tribute to the club’s centenary. And the simple task became more complex when he used a Kodak camera with a number 4 cartridge manufactured in 1897. An initiative replicated in England.

“Filming the oldest football competition in the world today with a 127-year-old camera… and it turns out it’s Manchester United vs. Liverpool at Old Trafford. Doing this for the FA Cup today is a dream come true. Wish me luck,” Myerscough-Harris wrote after his positive experience in Swedish football.

This device belonging to the 19th century captured in black and white different moments of what happened in Manchester, among which the celebrations of Marcus Rashford and Diallo Traoré stood out for the two goals of the home team’s comeback, as well as the snapshots of Alejandro Garnacho in a filming carried out under the 35 mm film format, identified as the famous negative. An X account (formerly Twitter) echoed these publications and chose one that contained the Bug as its “favorite.” The message was retweeted by the creator of the photo.

Miles Myerscough-Harris starred in a curious moment in the cross that classified the Red Devils to the semi-finals of the FA Cup

Indeed, Miles Myerscough-Harris starred in a curious moment at the end of the duel at the Theater of Dreams because he celebrated Manchester United’s 4-3 victory. On his social networks he commented that his celebration was for having captured the finisher at the precise moment of his shot on goal: “When a Manchester United support photographer manages to shoot a last-minute winner against Liverpool in Old Trafford.”

According to his biography, Myerscough-Harris has more than 10 years of experience in video and audio production, having worked with some of the biggest names in music worldwide. Her repertoire includes live sessions, music videos and multi-camera shoots, among other things, and she specializes in live music and sports, as well as portraits and travel photography.

All this did not prevent him from being watched very closely when he tried to capture the AIK players last February and he had to ask his colleagues to step back because he needed to be at a distance greater than 12 meters for all the players to enter the frame. Speaking to ESPN, he stated: “They looked at it and said, Oh my God, what are you doing with that? It was really fun. But, in reality, everyone was very supportive. It was really nice. “All the other photographers stood there and thought it was really cool.”

The camera, more than a century old, was purchased at an antique store in Farnham, England. Although there is no clear origin of this object, the man was amazed when his wife, Catherine, took it down from a shelf: “I noticed that it was in beautiful condition and that everything worked perfectly. So I thought, I have to get it.” This is the oldest in his collection, which is made up of more than 15 specimens.

At that time, he expressed his surprise at the resonance that this original idea had, a thought that could be replicated to what happened at Old Trafford: “I think the fact that we recreated the type of original team photo on a camera that had 100 years…it added a little more interest, but it’s been really wonderful to see the reaction. I mean, it’s been great to see how far it spread.”
