Baja California Athletes Shine with Judo Victories at National Tournament

With outstanding performances in the judo discipline, the representatives of Baja California were crowned winners of 3 gold medals, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the “Prof. Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi” 2024 National Tournament, an event that took place on February 29 to March 3 in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The event, organized by the Mexican Judo Federation, took place on the stage of the CODE Alcalde Sports Center and brought together the best Mexican judo competitors, who participated in their respective categories, including sub-18, sub-20 and Senior.

The gold medals were obtained by Isis Benítez and Julio Ávila in the 70 kilogram under-18 and 81 kilogram under-18 categories, respectively. In addition, Jassem Fajer also won the gold medal in the under-18 55 kilogram category.

For her part, Miriam Silva won the silver medal in the under-21 70 kg category and the bronze medal in the senior category. The other bronze medals were obtained by athletes Vania Madera and Kassandra Espinoza.

The competition was considered a selective event to form the national preselection that will represent Mexico in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.

ENSENADENSES DOMINATE TABLE TENNIS CUP

Ensenada’s representatives dominated the 2024 Table Tennis Cup, which was held at the Multipurpose Gymnasium of the Tijuana High Performance Center.

80 competitors from Baja California and Southern California participated in the event, with the priority of providing competitive experience to Baja Californian athletes.

The Macro Regional eliminatory will take place in Saltillo, Coahuila, from March 20 to 22. At this stage, the Baja California team that will compete in the Conade 2024 Nationals will be defined.
