Badminton Youth Shine at HBV Open Youth Tournament in Heesch

HEESCH – The Heesche Badminton Association organized the HBV Open Youth Tournament for the tenth time on March 24. 80 youth players from thirteen different associations in the region traveled to the ‘t Vijfeiken sports hall to compete for the daily prizes and the Hebris.nl Exchange Trophy for the best performing club. Of course, many players from the home club were also present.

Divided over three different age categories and three different game events (singles, doubles and mixed doubles), the badminton players played more than 250 matches throughout the day. This regularly resulted in spectacle and applause from the audience.

There was of course extra applause for the players of the home club who went home with a prize at the end of the day. Heesche players managed to reach finals in all three age categories. In the category for the youngest youth, Thirza van de Ven won the women’s singles and came second with partner Jarno de Leijer in the mixed doubles. Benjamin Lannoye came second in that category in the men’s singles. In the U-15 category, Noa de Leijer won the women’s singles. In the category for the oldest youth players, the U18, Ibon Koks and Jelle van Schaijk came second in the men’s doubles and Janita de Leijer and Ellis Zwiers second in the women’s doubles.

The Hebris.nl Exchange Trophy for the best performing club was won by BV de Klapper from Schaijk. More information about the HBV Open Youth Tournament can be found at www.hbv-heesch.nl.
