Badminton: ASPTT Strasbourg Dominates Pool 1, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés Clinches Play-off Spot in Pool 2

Pool 1

Traveling to Paris to face the Racing Club de France, ASPTT Strasbourg carried out an excellent operation in the ranking with this authoritarian victory, 7 to 1. A success with a particular flavor marked by the return to competition of William VILLEGER, winner of his two matches. A victory which propels the Eastern club to second place!

Already assured of finishing in first place in the group, Chambly did not do any favors to Cholet, his runner-up at the start of the meeting. Despite the abandonment of Jan LOUDA against Elias BRACKE, and the defeat of Emilie DROUIN against Iris WANG, the multiple title holder won 6-2 and retained his chances of achieving a flawless performance throughout the season.

Weakened, the Badminton Club Arras went to Maromme with only two players. The successes of Toby PENTY against Marius REBOUL-L’ALEXANDRE and of Marie BATOMENE against Juliane PIRON will do nothing, the Norman club wins for the first time this season with a score of 5-2. Julien MAIO, Daniel NIKOLOV and Camille GAUGAIN all won their two matches.

In the ranking, Chambly ranks first (47 points) ahead of its new runner-up Strasbourg (30 points). Cholet drops to third place with 28 points, ahead of Arras (26 points) and RCF (25 points). Maromme is last with 12 points.

Pool 2

It’s official, the Saint-Maur-des-Fossés club will indeed be at the play-offs in mid-May in Chambly! Promoted this season to the elite, the Ile-de-France club did not tremble when facing Aire-sur-la-Lys this afternoon to definitively validate second place in the group. Despite the narrow defeat of Enogat ROY and Emilie VERCELOT against Louis DUCROT and Yaëlle HOYAUX (21/9 18/21 22/20), Vincent NICLI’s players won all the other matches to win 7 to 1. A victory which definitively seals the outcome of the season.

The victory of Red Star Mulhouse at home against the leader Fos-sur-Mer will therefore have no impact on the outcome of the end of the season in this group 2. Without Christo and Toma Junior, but with the presence of Boris POPOV (Cadet 2), the Fosséens lost 6-2 against the Mulhouse armada, led by Thom GICQUEL and Arnaud MERKLE. Winner of the three matches played in three sets, the RSM takes its revenge from the first leg and locks, for its honor, third place in the group.

In the ranking, Fos-sur-Mer (41 points) retains its first place by one point ahead of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, 40 points. Mulhouse (33 points) ranks third ahead of Aix-en-Provence (26 points), exempt this weekend. Aire-sur-la-Lys is fifth with 21 points. Talence remains at 0 points since its general package.
