OLYMPIC ARC TITLES
In the men’s Olympic competition, the first overall career triumph for Maurizio Mancini of the Frecce Azzurre who got the better of Filippo Dolfi of the Arcieri Ugo di Toscana in the final with a result of 6-2. The bronze goes to Giuseppe Verzini (Compagnia Arcieri Cormòns) with a 6-2 win over the national team archer Stefano Travisani (Fiamme Azzurre).
In the women’s event, Elisabetta Mijno (Fiamme Azzurre) confirms herself on the top of Italy, capable of winning the tenth overall indoor title in her career. The last act of the competition is against her national teammate Enza Petrilli (Fiamme Oro), two athletes who medaled at the last Paralympics in Tokyo, which gave rise to a final that ended 6-0, but more closely fought than the result suggests. Letizia Visintini (Compagnia Arcieri Cormòns) takes the third step of the podium with a 6-2 success over Veronica Floreno (Dyamond Archery Palermo).
TITOLI COMPOUND
In the men’s compound, first overall victory for Matteo Bonacina of the Arcieri delle Alpi who gets the better of his national teammate Giampaolo Cancelli (Arcieri Voghera), the defending champion who this time has to surrender in the final 143-141. Third place for Lorenzo Schieda (PHB) who beat Kelmend Cekaj (Arcieri del Roccolo) 140-135.
In the women’s competition, the last challenge is a show that brings out applause at the Macerata Palasport. The Tokyo Paralympic medalist Maria Andrea Virgilio and Eleonora Sarti, also a starter on Japanese soil, face each other arrow after arrow but never manage to break the balance and so the Italian title is awarded to the playoff arrow. After 141-141 at the end of the five volleys, the last shot of the two Fiamme Azzurre athletes ends up on 10, but Eleonora Sarti’s shot is closer to the center and is worth the third overall title of her career. The bronze goes to the archer of the National team and the Ardivestra Archers Giulia Pesci with the success over Anna Novello (Queen Arco Club) 146-131.
TITLE OF W1
In the W1 race Salvatore Demetrico (Dyamond Archery Palermo) triumphs in the final against Daniele Cassiani (Arcieri della Signoria). The clash ends 145-137 with a long streak of consecutive “10” by Demetrico who thus goes on to win the third title after those of 2018 and 2019. Third position for the Italian Asia Pellizzari (Arcieri del Castello) with the 137-134 on Francesco Tomaselli (Solese Archers).
TITOLI VISUALLY IMPAIRED
The Visually Impaired 1 title flies to Sicily thanks to the arrows of Davide Chiricò of Dyamond Archery Palermo who wins the final for the gold 6-2 against Maria Salaris of Unione Polisportiva Poggibonsese. Bronze to Loredana Ruisi (Non Blind Milan Onlus) with 6-2 over Tiziana Marini. In the Visually Impaired 2/3, Daniele Piran of the Arco Club Bolzano Vicentino takes the first step of the podium and prevails 6-0 over the athlete of Sagitta Arcieri Pesaro, the company organizing the event, Annamaria Mencoboni. Third place for Giovanni Maria Vaccaro (Dyamond Archery Palermo) with 6-2 over Alessandro Sebastiani (Real Villa Archers).
TEAM TITLE
In the Olympics, the Frecce Azzurr win the men’s team titlee (Mancini, Punzo, Torella): for the Lazio trio the 6-2 success in the final over Compagnia Arcieri Ugo di Toscana (Bartoli, Condrò, Dolfi), while the bronze goes to Dyamond Archery Palermo (Campolo, La Rosa, Lisotta) .
