Australian Shyla Heal arrives as medical wild card at Asvel

Shyla Heal (1.68 m, 22 years old) arrives at Asvel until the end of the season where she will replace Marine Fauthoux, who was out of action for the period due to a herniated disc.

The leader, Australian international and bronze medalist in the Asian Cup last summer, will experience her third club in Europe this season. The former Chicago Sky player (four WNBA matches in 2021) first played for the Polish club Lublin, which notably crossed paths with Asvel in the Euroleague. She scored 19 points on 7/15 shots in 33 minutes during the confrontation.

Debut expected on March 30

Still in the Euroleague, Heal averaged 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. In January, Shyla Heal joined the Israeli club Hapoel Petah Tikva with whom she will play one last Championship match this weekend before joining Asvel. The leader should make her debut with the Lyon club against Landerneau on Saturday March 30.

“We wanted a player of a good level, capable of helping us win the title,” explained coach David Gautier. That was the priority. It is true that we would have liked it to arrive sooner, but it is very complicated to find. We preferred to wait to have a player who brings added value to the team, because we will have to raise our level of play in the coming weeks. »
