ASVÖ Burgenland Celebrates Success with Championship Ceremonies across the Region

No fewer than 471 athletes and 26 teams were successful in 32 different divisions in 2023, in short: the ASVÖ Burgenland family can look back on a highly successful record. Over 1,000 medals at state championships, Austrian championships and state championships are on the credit side. In addition, there were successful appearances at European Championships and European Cups (53) as well as at World Championships and World Cups (41).

All of this is reason enough to hold the traditional ASVÖ championship ceremonies across Burgenland as usual. Even if there were fewer successes – the platform of the honor should benefit all successful athletes, which is why ASVÖ Burgenland also holds it regularly.

110 active participants took part in the kick-off in the Neusiedl am See district, which took place in front of 250 people in the packed hall of the Karl-Wirt and offered a wealth of sporting disciplines. There were representatives from the fields of triathlon, powerlifting, archery, tennis, judo, athletics, sport shooting, clay target shooting, dynamic pistol shooting, equestrian sports and sailing. However, the largest proportion of honorees was clearly the district’s Jiu Jitsu family, where 47 awards were given.

The first well-wishers were ASVÖ Burgenland President Robert Zsifkovits, Vice President Hans Schrammel and the guests of honor in attendance: State Councilor Daniela Winkler, Erwin Preiner (Mayor of Winden am See) and Kilian Brandstätter (Mayor of Gols).

Frauenkirchen’s mayor Hannes Schmid was also in the middle of it all, he accompanied as “No. 1-Fan” his wife Elisabeth, who was among those honored as the Austrian powerlifting champion. The highlight of the awards was traditionally the final block with the international successes. Claudia Loos (judo), Joel Catena (powerlifting), Julia Blawisch, Michael Freudenberger, Lisa Fuhrmann (all Jiu Jitsu) and Christoph Marsano (sailing) received their deserved applause.

The host, ASVÖ Burgenland President Robert Zsifkovits, was enthusiastic: “Like every year, the championship ceremony is a special event at which we honor our extremely successful athletes. With 32 different award-winning divisions, our successes also show that, together with our clubs, we are the largest sports association in Burgenland.”
