Astra Cinema Transformed into Judo Room for Screening of ‘Tatami’

The Astra cinema in Florence was transformed for one evening, Tuesday 26 March, into a judo room: instead of armchairs, real tatami mats have been placed on the floor for viewing Tatami by Guy Nattiv and Zar Amir Ebrahimi. Spectators were therefore able to watch the film sitting and lying on the tatami and fully enter the atmosphere of the story told.

Before the film, there was a performance by the athletes of judo from various schools in Florence and the surrounding area; each spectator was given a free “variant” poster of the film Tatami created by Margherita Tramutoli.

The event was made possible thanks to the Stensen Foundation, which together with Prg, manages the Astra room, owned by Banca Cambiano, and was created in collaboration with Bim distribution and Ronin Florence, Jigoro Kano Florence, Judo Club Bagno a Ripoli , Izumo Florence.

Tatami it is the first feature film co-directed by an Iranian director and an Israeli director and is set during a world judo final, where the Iranian regime does everything to boycott the athletes. The film is showing at Astra from April 4th.
