“We are here, in Türkiye, until March 26. In this tournament Ulysses came third, a podium shared between three competitors. “By average points he finished fifth, while Renée, his teammate from Oberá, Misiones, won the bronze medal,” said his father – also Ulises – who, together with his wife, accompanied his son to live this experience that was enriching from the beginning. every point of view, according to what he told La Brújula 24.

Ulises, Renée and Natalia, a native of Mar del Plata, were the three Argentines selected and, fortunately, Ulises said, they were all able to travel.

“Ulysses was injured in the first incident and fought in those conditions, a real shame. Even so, he managed to place himself in fifth place,” reiterated his father, who for just over a month led an intense campaign to raise funds to be able to cross the thousands of kilometers that separate Bahía Blanca from Antalya, a Turkish resort with a port. old town full of yachts and beaches lined with large hotels. The city is also an access route to the Mediterranean region of southern Turkey known as the Turquoise Coast due to the color of its waters.

Ulises was born on July 14, 1983. He completed primary school at the San Martín school and for the last 12 years has worked at the Profharma drug store.

However, his skills do not end in sport: “Uli” is an outstanding scout for Our Lady of Lourdes and, in addition, he is a skilled magician.

Since he was 20 years old, he has been practicing judo at the Estudiantes Club and, little by little, he began to participate in tournaments and competitions. Thus, he became American champion in the Cenard, a step that led him to join the Argentine national team.

“That is why right now we are in Turkey participating in the World Cup for people with Down Syndrome,” said his father.

Although they did a campaign, the trip was paid for by the family themselves, with the collaboration of some friends and family.

“Despite the injury, he is enjoying himself a lot and we are with him,” concluded the father, to point out that Ulises has an older sister, María Belén; two nephews, Simón and Fermín, and a goddaughter, Lourdes.

Last July 15, he celebrated his 40th birthday with great fanfare in the event hall of the Santa Rita Protected Workshop, where there was no shortage of the classic waltz, as well as singers, dancing, music and a huge cake.
