BIG RIVER.- The day before yesterday, the athlete from Rio Grande do Sul emerged victorious in his match in the 32nd finals by winning by ippon (sumi otoshi), at 2:05 (each match lasts 4′, and if it is not decided before that limit it will be continue fighting until one of the judoka scores a wazari or an ippon, or whoever is disqualified upon reaching his third state or penalty).
In the next duel, for the round of 16, the captain of the national team faced the Romanian Alex Cret (25th), being beaten by the fast track (the European an ushiro kesa gatame at 2:06).
Their winner fell in the quarterfinals to local Lasha Bekauri (2nd); and then, in the first round of the repechage, he lost to Sungho Lee (45th), from South Korea, finally placing 7th.
The title remained in the hands of the aforementioned Bekauri, who in the final defeated Eljan Hajiyev (23rd), from Azerbaijan, by ippon (0:51), who in the round of 16 had eliminated the Cuban Rafael Silva (he is the best American in the world ranking, where it appears 4th, and is 14th in the Olympic ranking, whose first 17 places will go to the Paris Games, in four months).

The athletes representing the Argentine Judo Confederation (CAJ) will appear between Friday the 29th and Sunday the 31st at the Grand Slam in Antalya (Turkey).
