Argentina Shines with 13 Medals at South American Rowing Championships in Rio de Janeiro

Argentina obtained 13 medals in the South American Rowing and Pararemos Championships held in the Rodrigo Freitas lagoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The national team added two gold, five silver and six bronze in the tournament in which more than 100 rowers from 12 countries participated.

Sonia Baluzzo obtained the South American title in seniors in the skiff category after achieving a time of 8:09.44 in the final, while the other gold medal of the Argentine delegation went to the junior four-short oars team made up of Francisco Moreira, Valentino Aversso, Emilio Bettiana and Lautaro Galdeano.

Pedro Dickson was silver in men’s skiff, as were the four men’s short sculls (Francisco Moreira, Santino Menin, Alejandro Colomino and Pedro Dickson) and women’s (Sol Amaya, Julieta Ricciuti, Sonia Baluzzo and Evelyn Silvestro). Meanwhile, Brenda Sardón in the adapted WPR1x class and the junior women’s short four oars (Candela Cappa, Elena Cerrudo, Anika Fucile and Sofía Andreotti) also climbed to the second step of the podium.

The bronze medals were obtained by Elena Cerrudo in JW1x, Olivia Peralta and Oriana Ruiz in W2, Agustín Scenna with Santiago Deandrea in M2x, Sol Pavia with Luis Salas in PR3 2x Mixed, Valentino Aversso with Lautaro Galdeano in JM2x and by the M4x (Axel Haack, Joaquín Riveros, Agustín Scenna and Santiago Deandrea).
