Andy Murray Suffers Torn Ligaments, Faces Uncertain Recovery Timeline

The owner of three Grand Slam titles, Murray lost to Macháč in the 3rd round after a three-set drama and announced on Monday that he finished the match with torn ligaments.

“There is still no telling how long Andy will be out. But he will definitely miss those two tournaments,” said a spokesman for the two-time Wimbledon champion and Olympic champion from London and Rio de Janeiro.

The former world number one underwent a second hip operation five years ago. He planned to end his career this summer after Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics.
