Andrey Rublev Disqualified for Unsportsmanlike Conduct at ATP 500 in Dubai

There was very little left until the conclusion of the semifinal match at the ATP 500 in Dubai. But it all went overboard. Andrey Rublev, upset by a line judge’s ruling, yelled at him face to face and was disqualified “for unsportsmanlike conduct” by the tournament supervisor.

The Russian denied using any insult but his testimony did not move the authorities. Winner this year in Hong Kong and with fifteen titles and nine finals in his history, he would have insulted (‘idiot’) and used obscene language at the official after losing a point.

This way, Alexander Bublik qualified for a new definition in his career and will go for the title. The match was 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5) and 6-5 at the time of the sanction.

Now Rublev will lose the prize money and points for the week and will leave the Top 5.
