Unveiling the Mythical Characters of Hades 2: Heroes and Villains to Meet and Avoid

Although both Hades and Hades 2 tell an epic, mythological story, each title is different and has unique characters – a trend that becomes particularly evident when you meet the sequel’s new heroes and villains. Most are worth meeting. There are some you should definitely avoid.

In Hades 2, which went into early access on May 6th, you can meet 14 new characters.

1) Melinoe

Melinoe, the main protagonist of Hades 2

Melinoe is the princess of the underworld. As her, you explore the underworld, destroy Chronos and save her family from the evil Titan. In Greek mythology she is the goddess of spirits and ghosts, and this is also evident in Hades 2; she has to force the spirits and deal with them in the underworld.

2) Hectares

Hecate, the Witch of the Crossroads, is one of the bosses you fight as you explore the Underworld. Although she is on the side of good, you must fight her as part of a test in which she teaches you to use your skills, speed and wits.

3) Dora

Dora is a cunning shadow found in the Stations of the Cross, very close to where Melinoe returns when she dies. The great thing about this is that if you give her a nectar, you will get the keepsake, the Spirit Onion, which can restore your health.

4) Moros

Moros, also known as Doom Incarnate, is connected to the Three Fates in Hades 2 and acts as an emissary. Many summons and quests revolve around Moros.

5) Selene

Selene, the incarnation of the moon, is one of the many goddesses you can receive blessings from in Hades 2. These boons range from dealing damage to awakening a defeated enemy to do your bidding to triple healing.

6) Odysseus

He was once human, but is now in the underworld.
Odysseus is a tactician who can be found near the cauldron at the crossroads. He often gives Melinoe helpful advice after she dies. If you give him a nectar, you can also get the Knuckle Bones Keepsake. When wearing it, you lose five percent of your health but take 15 percent less damage from Guardians. So becoming friends with him has its advantages.

7) Nemesis

She is the bane of his existence.
As her name suggests, Nemesis, Vengeance Incarnate, becomes your nemesis. She appears in your encounters and forces you to fight her, make an impossible decision, or beat her while killing enemies or you will lose gold or health. The worst thing is that she disappears through a door and blocks your access, so you have to take the other door.

8) Apollo

The God of Light.
Apollo, the god of light, is one of the gods Melinoe can receive blessings from. These include bonuses like faster sprints, attacks with a chance to hit twice, and standing still in your throws, restoring your magic.

9) Hephaistos

He is naughty.
Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths, is another god who will help Melinoe with blessings. The Gifts of Hephaestus include bonuses such as blasting enemies after sprinting, taking less damage and restoring magic, and gaining armor. The latter is one of my favorites.

10) Hestia

She calls us hot stuff.
The Goddess of Flame, Hestia, is one of the best gods to turn to for blessings. This is because the fire damage you receive from her deals damage over time, which can be beneficial in boss fights where you can only land a few hits before dashing away; they will still take damage, albeit a little slower.

11) Arachne

She’s so tiny.
Arachne is a cute little spider in Erebus who makes different outfits for you. These outfits can increase your damage, restore your health after battles, and even give you armor upgrades.

12) Eris

Eris is the incarnation of strife. You will often encounter her if you progress too quickly in your runs. Unfortunately, she’ll put the Curse of Strife on you, meaning you’ll take more damage from your enemies if you kill them and make big progress. You will also meet her again later in the story. But getting the debuff can mean the end of the game. So take your time; hopefully you won’t meet her until much later.

13) Scylla

She is the scourge of the seas.
Scylla is a terrible sea monster that appears in the final room of Oceanus. She is the final boss that you have to fight together with her merry band of villains. Although it’s a challenge to hit and defeat them, the fight song that plays during the fight is pretty epic. If you defeat her, she will drop a pearl that is useful for summons.

14) Narcissus

Narcissus is a unique character in Hades 2 who, like Arachne, offers you gifts without asking for anything in return. Although these gifts actually come from his admirers, he has no objection to sharing them with Melinoe, and they consist of things like health and bones, health and ashes, or magic and psyche.

If you love mythology and are curious about other gods, goddesses, and mythological creatures in Hades 2, there are a whole lot more returning as well.
