BOLOGNA – It took very little to add the first trophy of the season to the Baseball Softball Club Rovigo’s showcase. On Sunday in Bologna the Under 12 rossoblù stopped one step away from winning the “Winter League – Itas Mutua Trophy” in the Boys category. In the national final the young people from Polesine gave way to the Tigers of Cervignano with a very narrow 3-1. A result which however does not diminish an extraordinary journey which, stage after stage, has led them to cherish the dream of winning the coveted youth indoor trophy. The Adriatic Lng Baseball Softball Club Rovigo had won the Veneto Est Group of the competition, hosted on three Sundays of great sport and fun at the gym in via Mozart in Rovigo. A success that had propelled the rossoblù to the national finals, played on Sunday in Bologna.
The day of the Rovigo team began with the first match of the qualifying Group A against Ravenna Baseball: a very hard-fought and balanced match, which the rossoblù managed to win with a score of 3-1. Sthe second match played against Crazy Sanbonifacese was lucky, victorious over the Polesine by just one point thanks to the final 5-4. The 3-2 with which Ravenna then overcame the Veronese allowed Rovigo to still reach the final and lock horns with Cervignano, winner of Group B with Romano d’Ezzelino and San Martino Buon Albergo. The last act, as mentioned, rewarded, albeit marginally, the young Friulians, leaving the rossoblù a second national place which still deserves thunderous applause.
At the end of the final the disappointment soon gave way to smiles within the Adriatic Lng Baseball Softball Club Rovigo, author of an excellent tournament which can only instill great confidence in view of the outdoor season.
