Acquittal in Manduria: The Lawyer Davide Parlatano Defends Couple Accused of Persecution and Violence

A trial that lasted three years for a couple of Manduria, she was 36 years old, he was 31 (their initials were ST and JC), both accused of persecution and personal violence against a thirty-year-old woman also resident in Manduria. The latter complained of constant persecution and attacks, including with a baseball bat and a switchblade. A real torture, according to the prosecution, which lasted four years, until 2019 when the alleged victim decided to report her tormentors. Ended up on trial for this, the two cohabitants defended by the lawyer Davide Parlatano, were acquitted “because the facts do not exist”.

During the hearing, the complainant had recounted several episodes of violence, indicating the couple as solely responsible. The facts reported, which covered a period of approximately four years, described the accused couple as responsible for even death threats. In one case, again according to the offended party, the two entered arbitrarily into her home, physically assaulting her and trying to hit her with a boxcutter as well as hitting her in the legs with a baseball bat, thus causing personal injury. The 36-year-old accused would have been holding the knife while her partner would have taken up the sports tool.

On other occasions the two accused would have insulted and slapped her even in public places. All these behaviors would have caused the offended person a serious and lasting state of anxiety. In the long process the origin of these behaviors never emerged. At the end of the proceedings, the defendants were acquitted by judge Raffaele Maria Tronci who will file the reasons within 90 days.
