A torn cruciate ligament jeopardizes Sandro Platzgummer’s goal of returning to the NFL. Now the Frankfurt Galaxy is looking forward to one of the best running backs from Europe. But he doesn’t just come to Main to play football.
The injury changed everything. Torn cruciate ligament in just the third game of last season. The big plans for the big comeback at home: gone. The even bigger plans for a possible return to the USA to the best of the best in the National Football League (NFL): gone. At least for now. Sandro Platzgummer, one of the best football players from all of Europe, experienced perhaps the most decisive moment of his career in the summer of 2023.
Last week, Frankfurt Galaxy, one of the top names in European football, announced the signing of the running back for the new season in the European League of Football (ELF). A transfer coup, considering that the Austrian was under contract with the New York Giants in the American professional league NFL for three seasons from 2020 and was therefore more in demand among the ELF teams than almost anyone else.
