By Joël Pütz | Sports journalist

A virtuoso of the orange ball, Steve Nash has generally remained sheltered from controversy during his long basketball career. but that didn’t prevent the Suns legend from finding himself at the heart of a rather amusing story, told by a former teammate.

Unfortunately for him, his retraining in coaching will not have done much good for his CV. Conductor of the Nets Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving for several months, Steve Nash was fired in November 2020 with a record of 94 wins for 67 losses. Not ridiculous either but clearly not sufficient given the title ambitions of the franchise, especially since he was no longer supported by his superstars.

Many fans now only remember his failure in Brooklyn and it’s a shame since we’re talking about one of the greatest leaders of all time. If he was ultimately never able to win a championship ring, the Canadian nonetheless remains an absolute legend of the orange ball and in particular of the Suns, whom he led to three conference finals during the 2000s. .

Halfway through the trip, we got stuck in the elevator. Half the team is stuck in the elevator for 45 minutes… It was starting to get hot, the guys were starting to feel it, and Steve is the type to keep his cool under all circumstances. But then he started to undress in front of us. Everyone wondered what was going on.

He told us: “I can’t take it anymore, guys. I can’t take it anymore. » He was so hot, he had to wipe all the sweat off his forehead. It was pretty crazy, one of the funniest moments I’ve had with him.

For a player who spent the majority of his career in Arizona, a state known for its fairly high temperatures, this is still a rather incongruous anecdote.

As TT noted, Nash was however known for keeping his calm in heated moments, which allowed him to take Phoenix far into the playoffs on numerous occasions with his friend Amar’e Stoudemire. Unfortunately, he always lacked that little something extra to get to the Finals, systematically remaining stuck at the conference finals stage. No chance…

It obviously takes a lot to make Steve Nash unpin… or very little, depending on the point of view one adopts after this anecdote by Tim Thomas. In any case, we can easily imagine the confusion of his teammates when the Canadian suddenly started to undress in this elevator, without warning!
