14 Offensive Standouts from the NFL Combine Who Could Interest the Los Angeles Rams

The NFL combine wrapped up this weekend, checking another box in the all-important pre-draft process. The Los Angeles Rams watched the event from afar and will evaluate the numbers coming out of Indianapolis as they set their draft board, looking closely at some of the standout players from the combine.

Here are 14 prospects on offense who stood out in Indy and could interest the Rams at some point in the NFL draft in April.

Milton is a great athlete with a cannon arm, so the combine was a perfect time for him to showcase his skills. He displayed a strong arm during passing drills and also jumped 10 feet, 1 inch in the broad, showing off his lower-body power. He’ll likely be a Day 3 pick but potentially someone the Rams see upside in.

Guerendo lit up the combine with a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash, the best by any running back this year by 0.05 seconds. His speed could be fun in the Rams’ scheme behind starter Kyren Williams.

Wright is another intriguing RB2 option for the Rams, though he’ll go earlier than they probably want to draft a back. He ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash by a running back this year with a 4.38, showing the breakaway speed that makes him a home run threat every time he touches the ball.

Not only is Benson arguably the best back in the class when it comes to breaking tackles, but he also has the speed to run away from most defenders. He ran a 4.39 in the 40 and had a 10-foot-2 broad jump, which are both great numbers for the Florida State back.

Worthy set the combine record with a 4.21 in the 40-yard dash, making him the fastest player ever to participate in the event. The Rams love speed and have tried to find a deep threat with Tutu Atwell and DeSean Jackson in recent years, so perhaps Worthy will catch their attention.

Worthy’s teammate, Mitchell, also wowed evaluators with the third-fastest 40 time by a wide receiver (4.34). He’s much bigger, though, standing 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. Mitchell might just be the big-bodied deep threat the Rams need, though taking him in Round 1 might not be in the cards for them.

Odunze didn’t need to do anything in Indianapolis to solidify his spot as a top-15 pick, but he ran a very good 4.45 and was determined to beat his three-cone time of 6.88 seconds, staying on the field after everyone else to practice the drill and improve his time. The Rams met with Odunze so they seem to have some interest in the Washington star.

At 6-foot-3, Thomas ran an insanely impressive 4.33 in the 40-yard dash, cementing himself as a first-round prospect. He scored 17 touchdowns last season at LSU, which is no coincidence, and that production could carry over to the NFL with a team like the Rams.

Tight end is a position of need for the Rams and Johnson has the size and athleticism to become a standout player in the NFL. His 4.57 was the second-best time by a tight end in the 40-yard dash this year and he did it at 6-foot-6 and 259 pounds.

Another Washington prospect, Culp is undersized but has a ton of speed, as evidenced by his 4.47 at 6-foot-3 and 231 pounds. A late-round prospect, perhaps the Rams will see him as a gadget-type tight end in Sean McVay’s offense.

Fautanu was already viewed as one of the best offensive line prospects in the class, fitting in nicely as either a guard or tackle in the NFL. He ran a 5.01 in the 40-yard dash with an impressive 1.71-second 10-yard split, testing well across the board.

Mims is a physical freak, which has never been a question for the Georgia product. The concern with him is his lack of playing time, having made just eight career starts. He ran a 5.07 in the 40 at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds, which is remarkable. He could be an option for the Rams at offensive tackle in Round 1.

Bortolini is viewed as a Day 3 prospect but his combine performance was one of the best ever by a center. He ran a 4.94 in the 40 at 303 pounds and jumped 32.5 inches in the vertical, showing he has the lower-body power to succeed in the NFL. He has great size for the position and the athleticism to go with it.

Fuaga is another guard-tackle prospect, but some teams will want to keep him at his natural position of right guard. At 6-foot-6 and 324 pounds, he ran a very impressive 5.13 in the 40 and jumped 32 inches in the vertical. He’s a surefire first-rounder.
