One hundred and six participants gathered in the XXVI “Ciudad de Tomelloso” Indoor Hoop Shooting Championship, which was held on Sunday, February 18, in the San José pavilion. Archers arrived from different parts of Castilla La Mancha, Madrid and Andalusia with a large presence of clubs from Manzanares, Alcázar de San Juan, Andújar, Tarancón, Aranjuez, Las Lomas, Don Gil, Aljaba, Disminusport, Aguila Imperial, Encinares, Cerros de Úbeda, Villarrobledo, Alcalá del Júcar, Arcosol, Tarancón and the hosts of Tomiarco. The trophy presentation was attended by the councilors of the government team, Benjamín de Sebastián and Jesús Lara.
Like last year, two shifts had to be established to accommodate all attendees. In the first round the archers of the Longbow and Traditional modalities shot. In the second round, the Recurve and Compound modalities and the children shot. Joaquín López Arribas and María Elena Gallego Santos-Olmo acted as judges, both from the organizing club who also had the help of José Luis Córdoba Moreno.
The championship took place within a wonderful climate of camaraderie and coexistence and the participants highlighted the organization and hospitality of the organizing club. Some prizes also included local products such as wine, cheeses and sausages.
Results
In the recurve pre-benjamin category, Inmaculada Collado and María Jesús Collado, from Encinares, won; in children’s recurve, Jara Nieto (Puertollano) and Arturo González (Tarancón) won; In the women’s longbow children’s category, Celia Jiménez (Arqueros Manzanares) won; In Children’s compound, Juan Navarrete (Encinares) won, while in senior mixed compound, Juan Navarrete Muñoz (Encinares) was first, followed by Ana Rodríguez (Alcázar Arco) and Antonio Miguel Ramos (Andújar).
In senior women’s recurve, Lucía Rodríguez (Águila Imperial) won and in senior novice mixed, Andrés Morales (Arcosol) won.
