The Xàtiva Badminton Club has started the Autonomous Club League with victories. The league competition, which brings together seven clubs, including two from CB Xàtiva, began last Sunday in Ibiwhere the first team of the Setabe club achieved two wins, while the second team won one victory.
The day began with a derby between the two Badminton Xàtiva teams. The CB no triumph. The A achieved victory in the five games playedplacing the final score at 5-0.
After this match, CB Xàtiva A faced CB El Campello in the second round, which they beat 3-2 after winning the mixed doubles matches, with victory for the couple formed by Vicent Molina and Andrea Orquín; the women’s doubles match, with Andrea and Soraya Gandia; and the women’s individual, with Nuria Martínez. For their part, Vicent and David Polop lost by the minimum in the men’s doubles, and David also lost the men’s singles in a match that was also decided in the third set.
For its part, CB Xàtiva-Caixa Popular B faced CB Manises in the second round, which they won 3-2. The Setabe athletes had to work hard to win two three-set matches that were decisive for the final victory. Feliu Terol and Martina Molina achieved victory in the mixed doubles; Martina and Vega Calatayud also won in the women’s doubles, while Ximo Torres and Marcos Cimas lost in the men’s doubles. At 2-1 the individual matches were reached, in which Feliu Terol fell in the men’s match, while Leyre Simón won in the women’s match, after coming back from a set down, giving the final victory to those from Xàtiva.
After this first day of the Autonomous Club League, CB Xàtiva A has become leader of the classification, while B is second, tied on points with CB El Campello and Teulada.
Provincial youth day in Xàtiva
Last weekend also took place the second provincial day of the Sports Games of the Valencian Community in the youth category, an event that was contested in the Francisco Ballester Pavilion in Xàtiva. The day brought together 38 athletes from 6 entities in the province of Valencia, including the Xàtiva Sports School, represented by 6 players, and the Xàtiva Badminton Club, with 9 players. The matches began with the men’s singles round, followed by the women’s round and after them the doubles events were played. The 15 athletes from Setaba had a good performance, achieving 53% victories in the singles events and 40% in the doubles events.taking into account that in both tests there were numerous crossovers between athletes from the club or the sports school.
Upcoming competitions
Badminton Xàtiva will play next Saturday, February 3, the third day of the Sports Games in the children’s category, which will take place in El Campello. Setabe athletes will try to achieve victories to place themselves at the top of the rankings, as well as continue gaining experience in competition and, above all, have fun practicing sports.
