A woman filed a complaint in January against actor Gérard Depardieu for sexual assault during filming in Doué-en-Anjou (Maine-et-Loire) in March 2014, according to the complaint that AFP was able to consult and revealed by Le Courrier de l’Ouest. The complaint was filed on January 9, 2024 in a Paris police station for “sexual assault on a vulnerable person by a person abusing the authority of their position”.
“We learn of the existence of this complaint through the press. If the courts are seized, I choose, as a lawyer, not to speak publicly about this complaint, except that Gérard Depardieu firmly contests the accusations against him”, reacted to AFP the actor’s lawyer, Me Christian Saint-Palais.
The facts denounced date back to March 2014, according to the document. According to Le Courrier de l’Ouest, the facts denounced by this woman, a former assistant then aged 24, took place “during the filming of the film ‘The Magician and the Siamese’, directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky”. Questioned by the regional newspaper, the young woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, denounces in particular “her hands all over (her) body” and the “indecent words” of the actor on the set.
Gérard Depardieu, 75, was indicted in December 2020 for rape and sexual assault after a complaint from the actress, Charlotte Arnould, who denounced two rapes at the actor’s Parisian home at the end of August 2018. The complaint by actress Hélène Darras, who accused Gérard Depardieu of having sexually assaulted her during a film shoot in 2007, was filed at the end of December for prescription.
In December 2023, Spanish journalist and writer Ruth Baza also filed a complaint in Spain against the actor for rape for acts dating back to 1995 in Paris.
